Top 8 Reasons To Go To Church

((that's me in '95, pretending to be delivering a sermon))

Everybody has reasons to not go to church. They think churchgoers are hypocrites. Or, it's "funner" to stay in and watch television. Or, you feel hungry after and every restaurant is crowded. Getting there is hectic or you can watch a preacher while you're having more fun watching television.....but seriously:
  • Hebrews 10:25 (NIV): Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
  • Be spiritually fed. You might feel sick or tired now but you won't feel the same way by the time you're back.
  • Everybody who is there praying and singing is busy not being in your business. Refreshing!
  • It's an excuse to dress a little better.
  • Seriously, you're using your stomach as a reason to not go? Read this..Matthew 4:4 (NIV): Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
  • Even at those times when you're there way too long, you can feel at peace knowing that you're surrounded by others who believe what you believe. That has to be encouraging in some way.
  • Going isn't just about being there. It's a give and take! It's a way to fellowship with God and your "neighbors" like you could never do without such an organized meeting.
  • Everybody's needs are different. Churches give to the needy and receive things to give to the needy. No matter what end you're on, realize pots and kettles are on the same stove.
